Everything an election needs, in one place

From the voter register to the signed certificate, every step runs on Voterswall.

  • One link per election

    Each election gets its own 12-character code and link. Voters open it in the browser on any phone; there is nothing to install.

  • Eligibility rules

    Show each position only to the voters who may vote for it. For example, the Nairobi campus men’s representative only to male students on the Nairobi campus.

  • Excel register import

    Upload the register from Excel or CSV. A duplicate unique key, phone or email rejects the whole file, with a downloadable report of every problem.

  • Station voting

    Run polling stations on shared tablets alongside online voting, with station officers and activate / pause controls.

  • Simulation mode

    Rehearse the whole election with your staff and real devices. Every simulated vote is discarded before voting opens.

  • Verification mode

    Before voting day, members sign in to confirm their phone number and email, so their one-time codes reach them.

  • Live results & big-screen show

    An animated results show for the hall screen and a phone-friendly public results page, shown only when you switch live results on.

How the Voterswall platform works

From the voter register to the result announcement, in four steps.

  1. Step 1:

    Voter verification

    Import your register from Excel in bulk; duplicates are rejected with a report. In verification mode, voters confirm their phone and email before voting day.

  2. Step 2:

    Secure voting

    Voters sign in with their admission or membership number and a one-time code, online or at a station. Every ballot is encrypted and anonymous.

  3. Step 3:

    Real-time results

    Tallies update as votes are cast. Show them on the hall screen and on phones the moment you switch live results on.

  4. Step 4:

    Audit & reports

    Download turnout reports, certificates and a signed, hash-chained audit log that anyone can verify independently.

Security & auditability

Security you can explain to your members

Plain language, no magic words. Voterswall is built to be tamper-evident: any change to stored ballots or to the audit trail can be detected, and no record links a voter to their ballot.

  • Per-ballot encryption

    Each ballot is sealed with the election’s public key the moment it is cast. Choices are never stored in readable form.

  • Insert-only, hash-chained storage

    Ballots and audit entries can only be added, never edited or deleted, and each one is chained to the one before it.

  • Published integrity anchors

    Checkpoints of the ballot chain are published during the election, so anyone can later confirm that nothing was changed.

  • 2-of-3 key custodians

    The key that opens the ballots is split between three custodians. Any two of them must be present to count the votes.

  • Court-ready signed audit exports

    Export a digitally signed audit log that an independent party can verify with a single command.

  • Device & network limits

    Limit how many voters can vote from one device or one network, to deter vote harvesting.

  • Hard close at poll end

    At closing time every open ballot is signed out, and the server clock rejects anything cast after the close.

  • One-time codes for every sign-in

    Voters sign in with their unique key and a one-time code by SMS or email; staff use a password plus a one-time code.

Frequently asked questions

Can voters vote twice?

No. Each voter can cast one ballot per election. The check happens in the same database transaction that stores the ballot, so even two phones at the same moment cannot get two votes through.

What if the network drops?

The ballot is built for weak 2G/3G connections. Choices stay on the phone and the vote is retried until the server confirms it, and it is only ever counted once.

Who can see how I voted?

Nobody. Ballots are encrypted and stored with no link to the voter, so not even election administrators can see how anyone voted.

What happens at closing time?

Voting stops at the scheduled time by the server clock. Anyone still on the ballot is signed out, and choices not cast before the close are not counted.

Can we test first?

Yes. Simulation mode lets you run the whole election with your staff and real devices. Simulated votes are discarded before voting opens.

Do voters need an app?

No. Voters use the web browser on any phone, tablet or computer, and stations run on shared tablets.
